A unique chipset, carrying proprietary code measures speed, acceleration, braking and cornering as regularly as 256 times a second. This data is processed and can then be compared to chosen standards, or bands of behaviour. For example in classifying driver braking, it is possible to define bands such as: light, moderate, firm, harsh and severe; and score particular drivers.

For the first time TERM allows driving style to be quantified and in due course modeled for predicted risk. Eagle-i is working with leading insurance companies to create the first set of quantifiable driving standards.

A further advantage of TERM, is its data logging function. In the case of an accident data from the seconds proceeding and following a collision can be recorded, extracted and analysed – giving a unique insight into the likely causes and liabilities.
